We have one family member with eczema on the scalp and one family member with dandruff. THIS shampoo works well for BOTH.
Dandruff Shampoo
- 3/4 c liquid castile soap (I used Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint)
- 2 T coconut milk
- 2 t 100% aloe vera (I harvested mine from the plant for this)
- 1 t vitamin E oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- 5 drops tea tree essential oil
- 5 drops rosemary essential oil
Combine all ingredients and put in the dispenser of your choice. I use a pump because it is easier to use in the shower for the boys. It only takes a small amount, just enough to cover and wash the scalp with.

I’ve been using this recipe for my psoriasis and it leaves a film on my hair. My hair is also really dull looking now. I put it in and lather it up and let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse it out. When I’m rinsing it, I can feel a film on my hair already and I can’t get it out. It also leaves my hair very knotty. Do you know what is causing this? Thank you.

Oh, I am sorry to hear that. I am not sure why it would be leaving a film on your hair. As for it being knotty, perhaps a conditioner might help? I do know that it took a while for our hair to adjust when switching to all natural because the entire chemical make up is different so our scalp’s production of oils etc has to change and it takes awhile for everything to compensate, for lack of a better word.

The castile soap tends to do this. A diluted white vinegar rinse would help!

That totally makes sense because I was doing a vinegar rinse at the time we used this so that’s why I never had that issue. Thanks for the info 🙂

Is this for everyday use? Does it need to be refrigerated with the coconut in it?

Yes you can use daily and no it is not necessary to refrigerate. I hope you enjoy 🙂

I don’t have rosemary EO. Is there something I can use instead? Thanks!

Rosemary is really important in this recipe, you could substitute frankincense or omit it all together but I highly recommend getting some rosemary for future uses.

I don’t have aloe vera. Can I leave this out? And can you use coconut oil in place of coconut milk?? Thanks.
