I don’t know about you but back when we used icky chemical cleaners in our house, the kids were much more ‘into’ their chores when they could just grab the container of wipes to do their wipe downs. I missed that convenience…. A LOT…. so I decided to make my own 😉
Cleaning Wipes
6 oz distilled water
6 oz vodka (if you choose to not keep alcohol in your house, you can use White Vinegar)
24 drops essential oil (I used 6 each of Lavender, Lemon and 12 drops of Tea Tree)
cut up old T shirt or other thin, washable rags
In a pint mason jar or other glass receptacle, place all of your liquid ingredient into the mason jar then add rags until jar is full but the liquid is still able to be somewhat shaken.
Combine all ingredients and put in the dispenser of your choice. I use a pump because it is easier to use in the shower for the boys. It only takes a small amount, just enough to cover and wash the scalp with.
Combine ingredients in a spray bottle. spray on skin before going outdoors. You can also spritz on your outdoor furniture and other things in the area you are going to be hanging around in.
30-50 drops Peppermint Essential Oil (start low and add to your liking)
Mix all ingredients together. Store in sealed container on your counter. You can experiment with other flavors etc. I have heard of people using other mint oils in place of the peppermint. Make it your own.
4 drops essential oil scent of choice (I often use Peppermint, if you aren’t using the vodka, I would choose an oil that is disinfecting)
1 t Vodka (you can omit this if you choose not to have this in your home)*
I shook it up a little to show you just how sudsy this could be 🙂
*Changed Vinegar to Vodka because Dr. Bronners brand suggests never mixing vinegar and castile soap… I figure they probably know what they are talking about 😉
1 cup sea salt (salts have different mineral properties based off of where they come from, for an all around benefit of the salts, you can combine several different types to make up your cup)
2 tsp glycerin (completely optional, feel free to leave out)
several drops of your favorite essential oil. (Ravensara and Verbena have detoxing qualities. I used 5-6 drops Ravensara, 15-20 drops Lemon and 15-25 drops Lavender)
Stir well and store in a well sealed glass jar. Don’t forget to label it! When ready to use your detox mixture, add 1 cup apple cider vinegar and 1/4 cup of your detox mix to comfortably warm water. Not too hot because it may dry out your skin and make you feel tired. Until you are used to the detoxing effects, I recommend only soaking 10 minutes the first time. Although you can use this as often as you like, I would recommend starting at no more than 2/week for the first few weeks.
